The History
The birth of Zardoz® can be attributed to one man, Paul Ramer. Paul was an avid backcountry skier, mountaineer and inventor, infamous for his passion and ingenuity. Somewhere in garages and attics all across Colorado are prototypes of avalanche beacons, telescoping ski poles, bullet proof binding systems and specialty backcountry boots.

Ramer’s never-ending quest to find new and better products led him the science labs at DuPont. Here he worked with scientists to develop a liquid fluoropolymer that could be used on the base of skis and snowboards. Tragically, Paul passed away in March of 2000 at the age of 56. Still, his spirit lives on in his final discovery, Zardoz BASE BOOST.
The non-toxic, non-flammable, color and odourless BASE BOOST formula, provides a coating for the base of skis and snowboards to improve glide and reduce friction. The result of this is more speed on slopes and flats, less effort required for turning and reduced wear on the base of skis and snowboards.
Zardoz BASE BOOST can be used instead of wax or ideally over wax to increase its longevity and the intervals between waxing. Each application takes less than a minute and provides a day of high-performance skiing or snowboarding. It can be used in all snow conditions but the wetter the snow the better!

The Science
In many ways, the snow sports industry has been transformed by DuPont’s discovery of a miraculous “super plastic” called Teflon® Fluoropolymer.
There has been a dramatic rise in the use of fluoropolymers (or fluoro) in ski and snowboard waxes due to the performance enhancing characteristics (i.e. better glide and moisture resistance).

Wax manufacturers impregnate their waxes with the solid form of fluoro known as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethelyne). Some also lace their paste wax with PTFE.
However, Zardoz BASE BOOST is the ONLY 100% pure liquid fluoro base treatment available and the product is so unique, we were issued several patents.
BASE BOOST is a perfluoropolyalkylether (PFPAE), which is quite different from solid PTFE. Using this liquid derivative enables us to reach a state of 100% pure fluoro and thus provide the maximum performance benefits that fluoro can deliver!
How It Works
BASE BOOST's resistance to moisture allows you to glide over snow and ice, reducing friction and increasing speed and acceleration. Our patent protected 100% pure liquid fluoro formula, unlocks maximum performance from fluoropolymer technology!
Our clean and easy application process can be performed on or off the mountain with no ironing and no mess! BASE BOOST comes complete with a reusable pocket puck container and an applicator for 15 or more applications. Each use gives between 1-3 days of enjoyable skiing or riding.

BASE BOOST’s container is shaped like a hockey puck and is just 70mm across. It will comfortably fit in the pocket of your ski jacket, trousers or backpack. It takes less than a minute to treat the base of 2 skis or a snowboard and no tools are required.

It can be used instead of wax or ideally over wax to broaden the temperature range and longevity of the wax. To apply, simply drip the BASE BOOST liquid onto the applicator pad and then use the puck to wipe across the base and edges of your skis or snowboard.
BASE BOOST is non-toxic, non-flammable, odourless, colorless and safe for contact with skin. It is biologically and chemically inert meaning it won’t react with anything it touches and is safe to apply both inside and outside. It can withstand extreme hot and cold temperatures and is environmentally safe.
